Letter from the Co-lead Editors

Fall/Winter 2024 Edition of OR/MS Tomorrow

Dear OR/MS Community Members,

After several months of hard work, we are happy to launch the Fall/Winter 2024 issue of OR/MS Tomorrow. Our all-volunteer student team has produced seven articles that cover a wide range of topics from technical domains to professional skills.

We have three articles that are part of our recurring article series. First, we continue our mental health series with an article about imposter syndrome and how to turn it into an advantage. Next, our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) outreach series showcases the INFORMS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee and their student-related initiatives. The last of our series-related articles showcases the 1st Southeast INFORMS Student Retreat with Georgia Tech, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and Clemson University. Our next article looks at geospatial analytics and how it impacts almost every industry around the globe. Three of our members collaborated on an article discussing quantum computers and algorithms, and their impact on operations research. We aim to help job seekers by providing tips on how to write an academic cover letter. Our last article compares and contrasts several popular simulation software. We have aimed to have digital object identifiers (DOIs) associated with our magazine for several years now, and we are happy to announce this is the first issue where DOIs are associated with our magazine and the articles therein.

We are excited to announce our inaugural board of faculty advisors who will serve two-year terms: Dr. Piyal Sarkar, Assistant Professor at Penn State Harrisburg; Dr. Yue Wang, Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona; and Dr. Bismark Singh, Associate Professor at the University of Southampton (UK). All of our advisors are alumni members of OR/MS Tomorrow and we are so excited to have them "back" on our team!

We would also like to acknowledge the following for their photographic contributions to the frontmatter of issue: Pawel Czerwinski for the cover image, Jess Bailey for the Contents page image, and R Mo for the Letter from the Co-lead Editors header photo.
