The pages linked above display profiles of individuals, born before the end of World War II, who have made significant contributions to operations research and the management sciences. They include INFORMS Fellows, winners of two or more major INFORMS prizes, Presidents of ORSA, TIMS and INFORMS, and members of National Academies who are professionals in the field. Plans are to add additional birth date cohorts every few years; the end of World War II was chosen as the break point for the first set of profiles because that date marks the beginning of an extensive expansion of the scope of the field from its primarily military origins.
Profiles include the following information, citations and links, when available: birth dates; brief biographies; other biographies including those in Profiles in Operations Research by Assad and Gass as well as Wikipedia; degrees; institutions, methodologies and application areas with which the individuals have been associated; curriculum vitae; oral history interviews conducted by INFORMS and others; memoirs and autobiographies; major awards and honors; service to INFORMS and its predecessors; images; archives of personal papers, selected publications that are frequently cited; and additional resources. For deceased individuals, death dates and links to obituaries are included.
Please feel free to contact us with proposed additions and changes, as well as to report "dead links."
