CATONSVILLE, MD, December 18, 2020 – INFORMS, the leading international association for operations research and analytics professionals, announced it has launched the INFORMS Journal of Data Science (IJDS), which will publish cutting-edge peer-reviewed research and content designed to help businesses and organizations leverage data-driven decision-making to save lives, save money and solve problems.
IJDS is one of 17 peer-reviewed journals published by INFORMS.
As part of the IJDS launch, INFORMS also announced that Galit Shmueli, of National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, has been selected as its editor-in-chief.
“I am honored to have been chosen to serve as editor-in-chief of the INFORMS Journal of Data Science,” said Shmueli. “IJDS will fill a critical gap in the research and knowledge sharing of data-driven decision-making, and we look forward to publishing impactful data science methodologies that will advance this field and contribute to decision-making in business, management and industry.”
IJDS places an emphasis on decision-making and serves as an outlet fitting the cross-disciplinary nature of data science. The journal will provide authors and readers with a source for information ranging from areas such as statistics, machine learning, operations research, engineering, econometrics and other computational disciplines.
The editorial board is made up of the editor-in-chief, senior editors, associate editors, reproducibility editor and the managing editor.
The senior editors include Irad Ben-Gal of Tel Aviv University, Shawndra Hill of Facebook, David Martens of the University of Antwerp, Rema Padman of Carnegie Mellon University, Nick Street of the University of Iowa and Kwok-Leung Tsui of Virginia Tech.
All papers submitted to the journal are first assessed for editorial fit against the IJDS mission and standards. Papers are then assigned to a senior editor, who manages the review process and works with an associate editor and reviewers, providing feedback to authors for revisions and eventual publication.
